Botanical Name - Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba

India is native of cluster bean or Guar where it is consumed as a vegetable. Guar gum is a byproduct derived from the guar bean; It comes from the endosperm of the seed of the legume plant Cyamopsis tetrawgonoloba; Various parts of the plant are used as food crop for animals, It's grown in Pakistan and India, with smaller crops grown in the U.S., Australia, China, and Africa.

It is a drought-resistant plant that can be utilised as a green bean, used in green manure & fed to cattle and for centuries of years, Guar has is consumed as a vegetable in India. It is a rain-fed crop, sown in July-August & collected in October-November. Its is a leguminous vegetable, it fixes the soil fertile and boosts the nitrogen.

Guar Gum either unmodified or modified and is a very versatile and efficient bio-polymer covering a wide range of industrial applications such where it is binding, thickening film-forming and lubricating factors are of great interest.

The growing season is 15 -16 weeks and requires reasonably warm weather and moderate flashing rainfall with plenty of sunshine. The seeds are sown following the monsoon rain in the latter half of July to early August and are harvested in late October early November. Nearly 90 per cent of guar gum processed in India and is exported all over the world, and there are different standards of Guar gums pure or derivative.
